The Violet Groth and Victor Vaca Fund for Latin America <\/em><\/strong>was established as a permanent fund of the Division of Overseas Ministries in 2012 from a bequest from the Violet Groth Vaca Trust. The Violet Groth and Victor Vaca Fund for Latin America<\/em><\/strong> benefits Global Minisitries partners in Latin America providing a lasting legacy for Violet and Victor Vaca, who served for many years as mission co-workers in Paraguay and Ecuador.<\/p>\n

Victor and Violet began their service with the Division of Overseas Ministries (today Global Ministries), assigned to Friendship Mission, Asunci\u00f3n, Paraguay, from 1970-1976.  During this time, Violet also worked as a teacher at Colegio Internacional.  After service with the World Council of Churches in Geneva, Switzerland, the Vacas arrived in 1983 to Quito, Ecuador, Victor\u2019s home country, and were assigned to the United Evangelical Church of Ecuador and the Rural Pastoral Ministry (PRE).  From 1987-1992, they continued with the Ecuadorian Rural Pastoral Ministry.  Beginning in 1993, they were instrumental in the establishment of and served with the Ecumenical Foundation for Integral Development, Training and Education (FEDICE), Ecuador.  Victor retired in 2005, and continued with FEDICE as a long-term volunteer until his death in 2013.  Violet retired in 1992, but continued to serve in a volunteer capacity until 2005. Violet died in 2008.<\/p>\n

Fund distributions from the Violet Groth and Victor Vaca Fund for Latin America <\/em><\/strong>are allocated by the Global Ministries Area Executive for Latin America and the Caribbean for ministries in Latin America.<\/p>\n
