Thomas Global Ministries Fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong><em>Dr. Robert A. Thomas Global Ministries Fund <\/em><\/strong>was established by the Board of Directors of the Division of Overseas Ministries (DOM) in 2001 to honor Dr. Thomas\u2019 ministry, witness, and commitment to God\u2019s global mission. The\u00a0<strong><em>Dr. Robert A. Thomas Global Ministries Fund<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0is invested, along with the other Division of Overseas Ministries permanent funds, with the Christian Church Foundation. The distributions from the <strong><em>Dr. Robert A. Thomas Global Ministries Fund <\/em><\/strong>provides resources for the ongoing work of the Division of Overseas Ministries\/Global Ministries.<\/p>\n<p>In his ministry as DOM President from 1973 until 1983, Dr. Thomas lived out his conviction that the church is one and that the Division of Overseas Ministries is a ministry of the whole church.\u00a0 He provided a high caliber of theological reflection to DOM and as a member of the Cabinet of the General Minister and President.\u00a0He guided the legacy of the United Christian Missionary Society (the predecessor mission body of DOM and the Division of Homeland Ministries, today Disciples Home Missions) through many changes, emphasizing its stewardship and new organizational structure.\u00a0He led DOM to the endorsement of its Principles and Policies by the General Assembly in 1981, and advanced the establishment of joint offices with the United Church of Christ, beginning with the Middle East Office in 1980.\u00a0Under his leadership, the Joint Office for Human Rights was established with Disciples Home Missions, and he instituted the practice of inviting international guests as participants at the General Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>The <em><strong>Dr. Robert A. Thomas Global Ministries Fund <\/strong><\/em>is invested, along with the other Division of Overseas Ministries permanent funds, with the Christian Church Foundation, and is governed by the endowment practices and policies of the Division of Overseas Ministries Board of Directors. Distributions from the\u00a0<em><strong>Dr. Robert A. Thomas Global Ministries Fund <\/strong><\/em>provide resources for the ongoing work of DOM\/Global Ministries.<\/p>\n<p>Gifts to the\u00a0<em><strong>Dr. Robert A.
