Congo Pastors Pension Endowment Fund<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Democratic Republic of Congo<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Congo Pastors Pension Endowment Fund<\/span><\/b>\u00a0originated as a Division of Overseas Ministries permanent fund in 2007 as a result of a Global Ministries meeting in Indianapolis during which Reverend\u00a0Eliki\u00a0Bonanga, President of the Community of the Disciples in Congo (CDCC), spoke about the needs of retired CDCC pastors, their widows, and their children.\u00a0 The CDCC has been affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States\u00a0and Canada\u00a0since 1899,\u00a0and is a longstanding partner of Global Ministries.\u00a0\u00a0At the time of the Fund\u2019s establishment,\u00a0the CDCC had\u00a0324 congregations with 750,000 members.\u00a0 Unfortunately, Reverend\u00a0Bonanga\u00a0communicated in 2007, pastors have little pension or means of sustaining themselves and their families after they retire.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Those attending the meeting decided to step forward together with Global Ministries and other donors, and\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0Congo Pastors Pension Endowment Fund<\/span><\/b>\u00a0was established through the Division of Overseas Ministries\/Global Ministries.\u00a0 Each year distributions from the\u00a0<\/span>Congo Pastors Pension Endowment Fund<\/span><\/b>\u00a0provide pension\u00a0support\u00a0for retired pastors of the Community of the Disciples of Christ of the Congo and their families.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
