Since its original release, more than 100 additional signatories have added their names.&nbsp;A significant initiative from the world&#8217;s Muslim community, this letter represents an invitation to engage more deeply in peacemaking by two of the world&#8217;s largest religious communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.globalministries.org\/rev_john_thomas_ucc_general_10_10_2014_1127\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">United Church of Christ<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.globalministries.org\/rev_dr_sharon_watkins_10_10_2014_1127\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)<\/a> have each responded to the signatories, some of whom are members of our partner, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.agmcd.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Arab Group for Muslim-Christian Dialogue<\/a>.&nbsp;In addition, the World Council of Churches has also <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oikoumene.org\/en\/resources\/documents\/wcc-programmes\/interreligious-dialogue-and-cooperation\/interreligious-trust-and-respect\/learning-to-explore-love-together\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sent a response<\/a> to the signatories, as well as encouraging its member churches to engage the letter, and Muslim neighbors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interfaith relations is an increasingly prevalent reality in North America, and we can learn a great deal from our own experience and that of partners in the Middle East and throughout the world.&nbsp;Here in the U.S., the UCC and Disciples are actively <a href=\"http:\/\/www.globalministries.org\/national_muslim_christian_init_1_10_10_2014_1121\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">engaged in interfaith dialogue<\/a>, both with the Jewish and Muslim communities.&nbsp;Information and resources about these are available on the <a href=\"http:\/\/nationalcouncilofchurches.us\/interreligious-relations-and-collaboration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Council of Churches Interfaith Relations page<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Islam In America: The Christian Truth\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9-50TZf10do?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The below video by the UCC, Trading Places, shines a light on religious bigotry in a unique way\u2014by depicting religious leaders of different faiths experiencing the power of walking in one another\u2019s shoes \u2013 and into one another\u2019s houses of worship.
